At the base of the hill one can visit the National Museum of Lithuania where exhibitions of state and cultural history from the Neolithic until 1940 year are on display. Exhibitions of Lithuanian and foreign applied art and design are held in the Museum of Applied Art. One cannot avoid visiting KGB Museum (the Museum of Genocide Victims) which is the only museum of this kind in the former Soviet empire. Vilnius was once one of the cultural centres of the Jewish world. Today, there are some 6000 Jews left in Lithuania, around 200 of them are Holocaust survivors.     Kaunas, the second largest city of Lithuania, may offer you an interesting explorations as well. If you care about the history and you are ready to accept the truth whatever it is, visit Ninth Fort - an impressive monument to commemorate the victims of Nazism. Vytautas War Museum of Vytautas the Great is considered to be one of the most important museums in Lithuania and contains almost everything what is connected with the war - archaeological finds, weapons, firearms, ammunition, army uniforms. The lovers of art should definitely visit M. K. Ciurlionis Museum where they can discover both mysterious and simple paintings of genius Lithuanian painter, composer and write M. K. Ciurlionis. A wide range of painting styles and origins dating back a few hundred years can be found at Mykolas Zilinskas Art Gallery. We would also like to offer one more site that can be found nowhere else in the world - the Devil's Museum, where more then 2,000 tiny devils sit, sleep or stay frozen in their deadly dance.
The Lithuania's seaside is deservedly considered to be the "pearl" of the country. In Klaipeda one should find time for a Maritime Aquarium. The museum collections include the sea fauna and insects, archaeological, ethnographic and iconographical items, coins, documents, ships and their equipment. In the centre of Klaipeda one can find a Clock and Watch Museum. Visitors of this museum have an opportunity to learn about the history of timepieces, discover the summer garden with a sun clock.
Nida, Lithuanian resort town, invites you to come to explore famous German writer’s Thomas Mann Museum which is situated on the high shore of lagoon.
